The Eternity of Our People

What is the secret to the eternity of the Jewish people? Many have tried to eradicate us physically and spiritually but have faded to mere footnotes in history, while Am Yisrael continues to endure and flourish. Perhaps the answer is not a secret at all; no matter the place or time in history, the Torah has endured and remained intact since we received it over 3,300 years ago. As King Solomon writes in Proverbs, "(the Torah) is a tree of life for those that cling to it." Hashem's benevolence and our miraculous survival is a product of our study and practice of the Torah and commandments, which have been transmitted through an unbroken chain of teachers and students stretching all the way from G-d's revelation at Mount Sinai to the classrooms of Katz Hillel Day School.

As KHDS enters its 30th year, we can clearly see the impact that our alumni have been making on the Jewish community in Boca Raton, Eretz Yisrael, and all over the world. We have over 500 children currently enrolled, and have graduated over 700 students — some of whom have now enrolled their own children at KHDS. All the while that our school has been a model of excellence of Judaic and secular studies, we've also been on the front lines of our nation's survival, making meaningful contributions to our local and global Jewish community and the eternity of the Jewish people.

As costs increase each year, it is getting more and more difficult to sustain our holy mission. Baruch Hashem, we are not facing this struggle alone. Through the generosity of many, our institution continues to thrive. Our donors have not only helped to ensure the eternity of our people, but have also established their own eternal legacy. As Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks wrote, "You achieve immortality not by building pyramids or statues — but by engraving your values on the hearts of your children, and they on theirs, so that our ancestors live on in us and we in our children, and so on until the end of time." Though your sorely needed gifts are sustaining the present and future of our institution, it is also giving our students the means with which to build your eternal legacy.

We are deeply appreciative of all of our friends that made 17/18 another banner year for KHDS, and hope to achieve even greater success in 18/19 and beyond. Whether it is through an endowment or planned gift, joining one of our major gift societies, participating in our Annual Journal Dinner, Scholarship Fund Raffle, Every Parent Campaign, or any of the dozens of other giving opportunities at any price point — there is room for everyone to earn a share in the eternity of the Jewish people. We pray that Hashem will bless us with the means — and great friends like you — to sustain us, so that we can share our holy mesorah, our Torah tradition, with many more generations of children to come.
